A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.
A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.
Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.
The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
